Plane Crash Claims Eight Lives

MAUN - A plane crash in the Okavango Delta, Friday, has reportedly claimed eight lives.

According to a press release from the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana, a Cessna 208 registered A2-AKD crashed shortly after take-off from Xakanaka airfield in the Okavango Delta. Moremi Air's aircraft, which was destined for Pom Pom, was carrying 12 people: 10 passengers and two crew members.

Moremi Air stated in a press release that only four passengers survived with injuries. The release also states that the pilot who died in the accident was also the company's general manager and had over 12 000 hours of flying experience. The company appreciated support from government officials and the Maun community during the tragic moment.
