This year, BIC had 2 representatives in the sponsored walk. This walk generally attracts men and women from various corporate organisations. It can however be taken by individual participants as well.
Men and women from corporate organizations whom hold various positions within their organizations were notably present. It goes without saying, that the Y-Care Charitable Pans Walks command a huge following, if not sponsorship. There were about 70-80 walkers. The Pains in the Walk From Mosu Village the walk stretched 120kms into the Makgadikgadi Pans over 3 days (no directions for now). An average of 40 kms was completed in a day. For those who could not complete the 40km/day either due to blisters, cuts or muddy-heavy shoes, med assist and quad bike rides were freely available. Of course not everyone completed the 40km/day every day. The terrain was not simply a flat land with skyline or mirage in the distance; most places were muddy, slippery, making it a difficult or very slow walk. The mid day (hot) sun did not spare the walkers either. The walkers walked in groups, teams, then disintegrating into individual walkers, then in files, re- groups, depending on walking strategies/paces, acquaintance and business networking and so forth. |
