Botswana Institution Of Engineers Biennial Conference
Botswana Institution of Engineers (BIE) recently held its 12th annual conference over three days at the University of Botswana's Library Auditorium. This year’s conference was combined with the Africa-UK Young Professionals' Workshop. The theme of this year’s conference was "Advancing Engineering and Applied Sciences for Economic Recovery". The guest of honour at the conference was the Honourable Jonnie Swartz, the Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology.

The combined conference attracted participants from the UK and other parts of Africa as well as Botswana. Thirty five speakers from around the world made presentations on a large number of topics centred around various themes including environmental conservation and sustainable development, material science, energy, construction and design, transportation engineering, technology and innovation, modelling and simulation, industrial design, control and automation, maintenance, education and ethics.

Botswana Insurance Company, the leader in insurance covers for Engineers and the Engineering sector in Botswana, was represented at the conference by insurance professionals from its Personal Lines, Specialised Lines and Commercial Lines departments.
